  • AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Since the outcome of each season is determined entirely by the RandomNumberGod, it can be very easy to come up with different explanations and motives for tributes’ actions throughout a season, typically by using knowledge of their canon counterpart and what they went through previously in the HGS to theorise what their HGS self could actually be like.
  • AntiClimax: More often than not, when there's only two tributes left in the game, one of them will kill the other in an instant. Sometimes one of them dies of natural causes.
  • ArchivePanic: Since its creation, the Original Generation hosted 250 seasons across 1,200+ pages while the Reboot has hosted more than 250 seasons across 1,000+ pages and is still going strong.
  • AwardSnub: Sometimes external circumstances ruin a tribute's chance at a spot on the Hall of Fame.
    • Many believe [WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Gabby] to have been snubbed by [Literature/Redwall Romsca] in OG Season 234. Due to an incident where Romsca got into an undesirable event with [Film/SkyHigh2005 Will Stronghold], causing the original save to be discarded and the season started over, Gabby was robbed of the win and most kills that she would have had.
    • The original save for OG Season 238 was accidentally lost. In it, [VisualNovel/Danganronpa2GoodbyeDespair Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu] would have gotten most kills and [Franchise/Ben10 Vilgax] would have made 3rd place [labelnote:*]the latter in particular would have been monumental because it would have made Vilgax the first Ben 10 Hall of Famer that wasn't a [ShoddyKnockoffProduct bootleg] (for context, legitimate Ben 10 tributes tend to perform [ButtMonkey very] poorly)[/labelnote]. In the canon save, however, [Film/GoldenEye Alec Trevelyan] killed BOTH of them, depriving them of a chance at becoming Hall of Famers.
      • Trevelyan himself, however, avert|edTropes this, since he was 2nd place in the original save and won in the canon save.
    • One of the worst cases of this happened in Reboot Season 94, where [VideoGame/TheBattleCats Queen Mother V] ended up getting killed by [WebVideo/Vinesauce Twoface] in a broken event. To add insult to injury, Twoface ended up winning, meaning that Queen Mother V would've won if the event wasn’t broken. Though this was subverted when the tropers ruled in favor of Queen Mother V winning, thus putting her in the Battle Royale.
  • CaptainObviousReveal:
    • An unshared gag save of OG Season 89 had [Series/Chucklevision Paul Chuckle] revealing to Barry Chuckle that they were... brothers.
    • In OG Season 210, [Franchise/Transformers Hound] reveals to [WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Tree Hugger] that... he's a robot. [SarcasmMode As if his design and status as a Transformer wasn't obvious enough.]
    • Before that, a [Series/DoctorWho Dalek] also made the same [SarcasmMode shocking confession] to [VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog Dr. Eggman] in OG Season 160.
    • In a gag save for Reboot Season 55, [Franchise/SuperSentai Zangyack Emperor Akudos Gil] told [VisualNovel/DanganronpaV3KillingHarmony Kaito Momota] that he had royal blood, even though his status as an emperor makes that rather obvious.
  • CrackPairing: Tributes will often snuggle with each other or hold hands at night, creating some... unusual pairings.
    • Case in point: [Videogame/MetalGearSolid3 The Boss]/[WesternAnimation/TUFFPuppy The Chameleon], [Franchise/Pokemon Mew]/[Franchise/StarWars Sheev Palpatine], [Literature/HarryPotter Kingsley Shacklebolt]/[WesternAnimation/FindingNemo Dory],[WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons Groundskeeper Willie]/[Franchise/Kirby Dark Matter], [WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender Azula]/[Franchise/Digimon Angewomon], [WesternAnimation/SpongebobSquarepants Spongebob][=/=][VideoGame/GuildWars2 The Pale Tree], [WesternAnimation/GravityFalls Wendy Corduroy]/[Franchise/JoJosBizarreAdventure Kars], [VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft Leeroy Jenkins]/[Film/MontyPythonAndTheHolyGrail The Black Knight], [Webcomic/Homestuck Draconian Dignitary]/[Literature/ThePrincessBride Inigo Montoya], [Franchise/Pokemon Absol]/[Franchise/DragonBall Future Trunks], [Manga/MyHeroAcademia Tomura Shigaraki]/[WesternAnimation/ToyStory2 Emperor] [WesternAnimation/BuzzLightyearOfStarCommand Zurg], time itself/[VideoGame/TrialsOfMana Riesz], and [VideoGame/TeamFortress2 The Demoman]/[WebVideo/StuartAshen Chef Excellence]. And to a lesser extent, [Franchise/StarWars Boba Fett][=/=][Manga/BlackLagoon Revy], [VideoGame/LifeIsStrange Chloe Price][=/=][VideoGame/Civilization Augustus Caesar], and [Franchise/Ben10 Vilgax][=/=][Manga/MyHeroAcademia All For One], all in the Original Generation.
    • And, in the very first season of the OG, [Manga/FairyTail Natsu][=/=][Anime/ChargemanKen Maou].
    • For the reboot: [Webcomic/Homestuck Lord English][=/=][VideoGame/GirlsFrontline ROnergate][note][=RO635=] in a Dinergate chassis[/note], ComicBook/IronMan[=/=][Literature/HarryPotter Olympe Maxime][=/=][VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends Varus], [Anime/MobileSuitGundam0083StardustMemory Kou Uraki]/Palpatine/[LetsPlay/Jacksepticeye Antisepticeye], [WesternAnimation/TheLEGOMovie Emmet Brickowski]/[Franchise/FridayThe13th Jason Voorhees], [Franchise/SuperSentai Basco Ta Jolokia]/[WebAnimation/BattleForDreamIsland Four], [UsefulNotes/SwapNote Nikki]/[VideoGame/Smite Ares], [OriginalCharacter Galis] [VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIV Runkals]/[Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda Ganondorf], and [VideoGame/FireEmblemPathOfRadiance Soren]/[Creator/Nintendo Nintendo][note]specifically an AnthropomorphicPersonification of it[/note].
  • CryForTheDevil: The RNG of OG Season 183 invokes this a little too well in the case of [Manga/MyHeroAcademia Tomura Shigaraki]. All of his hardships throughout the season and his genuine reactions to them really struck a cord with the players.
  • FanMyopia: Since a lot of events are references to various works, chances are that they might just fly over the players' heads if they're not familiar with the works. When suggesting these kinds of events, it's advisable to word them in such a way that even those not familiar with the works can follow along, [PopCulturalOsmosisFailure but sometimes they still fail to get them as well.]
  • FoeYayShipping: [WebAnimation/BattleForDreamIsland Four]/[Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger Basco] in Reboot Season 55. It began with Basco giving [WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic The Stare] to Four, [NoSell who laughed it off]. However, later that night, this pairing is suggested by [VideoGame/JustShapesAndBeats Barracuda], visibly embarrassing Basco. Later, Four hugs Basco after the latter was bullied by [WesternAnimation/JimmyNeutron Grandma Taters], [VideoGame/NoMoreHeroes Captain Vladimir] and [Anime/MobileSuitGundamUnicorn Neo Zeong] [VideoGame/FateEXTRA Nero], and Basco helps Four direct a PSA on [=STDs=] with [Franchise/SuperSentai Akudos Gil] and [Franchise/StarTrek the USS Enterprise]. It ultimately ends with Basco defeating and killing Four in a beam struggle.
  • FriendlyFandoms: With Elimination Game Mk. II, another forum game that focuses on eliminating entries until only one is left. It helps that HGS started out as a spinoff of the original iteration of Elimination Game, but with randomization of eliminated entries. The two threads share a few players and sometimes reference each other.
  • FunnyAneurysmMoment:
    • In OG Season 179, on Day Two, [Franchise/Pokemon Flabébé] went on an angry tirade about how she hated [WesternAnimation/TheGreatMouseDetective Fidget], [Franchise/Ben10 Azmuth], and [VideoGame/Touhou Sukuna], and that they [WesternAnimation/TheDoverBoys drove her to drink.] When Azmuth did her in on Day Five, this became much less funny. It seems that Flabébé had a really good judge of character.
    • Meta example: Before OG Season 98 began, Tropers/TroperNo9001 jokingly suggested that [Tropers/Beverly Heather][note]who was Bacon Zorp at the time[/note] should nominate [Webcomic/Sparklecare Dr. Livings] because the former suggested a [ILoveTheDead necrophilia] event for the tribute. Heather granted her request, but the event itself wasn't added. OG Season 154 then showed why said event wasn't added back in Season 98 in the first place: the players (9k1 included) were Squicked out by several tributes making out with the corpses of fallen tributes.[note]The event however, was suggested by Tropers/TheGamechanger during Season 152, which was tame in comparison to 9k1's, which involved the tribute [UnusualEuphemism fading to black] with the corpse.[/note] As a result, the event was [Pun sent back to the morgue] from the next season onwards.
    • Another meta example: In OG Season 125, Tropers/President|Stalkeyes [AuthorAvatar Stalkeyes] died of flesh-eating bacteria. Tropers/IchigoMontoya commented on how he wished the former was still active to see the shenanigans that was going on with them, only to diss it as [AntiClimax anticlimactic] for them. But in OG Season 190, when a hawk and the Scary Maze Game died of the same infection on the same night, 4fterthought got triggered by it because of their hypochondria. As a result, the event got [DeadlyEuphemism sterilized] from the next season onwards.
  • HarsherInHindsight:
    • In OG Season 98, [VideoGame/Undertale Undyne] got stuck in a ditch with all of humanity. Tropers/TroperNo9001 got worried, since in her game, Undyne hated humanity for trapping all the monsters Underground. Then in OG Season 208, Undyne killed half of the population (specifically the females), all for [YouKilledMyFather killing her father.]
    • In OG Season 131, [WesternAnimation/TheLEGOMovie Emmet Brickowski] underwent AdaptationalVillainy by teaming up with Walrus [Series/MythBusters Jamie Hyneman] to kill WebVideo/IDubbbzTV and his girlfriend Lucy aka Wyldstyle, racking up enough kills to become the most murderous. While OG Season 137 revealed that he [TheSoulless never had a soul to begin with] when he tried selling it for wealth and power, it's possible that this Emmet was actually [AlternateSelf the one who became] [WesternAnimation/TheLEGOMovie2TheSecondPart Rex Dangervest], who [StartOfDarkness took the path of villainy following his abandonment] in order to toughen up, as advised by Lucy.
      • HistoryRepeats for him in Reboot Season 32, where he also went hardcore and killed several tributes, even corrupting [Franchise/YuGiOh Dinosaur Ryuzaki]. While he made the podium again (this time in 3rd Place as opposed to winning), he wasn't the most murderous, with the honor going to Ryuzaki and [Anime/DogDays Valerio Calvados] instead. Lucy also appeared in this season, but he didn't kill her. Instead, she was beaten up by an invincible Caim.
    • In a gag reel of OG Season 195, [WesternAnimation/InsideOut Riley Andersen] tried not to cry, only to end up crying a lot. This is harsh :due to the fact that Riley believes that [StepfordSmiler she shouldn't be sad for her parents' sake], and Inside Out's conflict is directly influenced from this belief. Fortunately, she grew out of it.
    • In OG Season 207, [WesternAnimation/Coco Héctor] teamed up with [Anime/Megazone23 Eve] and the VideoGame/EliteBeatAgents for a BattleOfTheBands against Website/Reddit, Franchise/Godzilla and [Anime/DragonBallSuper Zamasu], only for them to lose. Then the next day, he got fired from his job via [=FedEx=]. While this is already bad enough, it gets worse when you remember that he was a singer/songwriter in his movie, and Ernesto de la Cruz killed him and stole all of his songs just for fame and fortune.
    • In Reboot Season 51, [Film/PetesDragon1977 1977!Elliott] called [Series/TheUmbrellaAcademy2019 Vanya Hargreeves] by an EmbarrassingNickname, to her frustration. However, she would canonically transition into Viktor long after that season, coming back in Season 281 under his new identity, making this come off as Elliott deadnaming him in hindsight. Ironically, Viktor's actor, who is a trans man, goes by Elliot Page.
  • HilariousInHindsight:
    • Tropers/TroperNo9001's first tributes in Original Generation were [WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Discord and Starlight Glimmer]. According to her, she took the former because she wanted a powerful non-pony, while the latter was her avatar at the time. Then came "[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS6E25ToWhereAndBackAgainPart1 To Where] [Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS6E26ToWhereAndBackAgainPart2 and Back Again]", in which the two are [RagtagBunchOfMisfits forced to work together with Trixie and Thorax] to save Equestria.
    • In OG Season 131, [WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse Garnet] revealed to [Franchise/Gundam McGillis Fareed] that [RoboticReveal she was a robot.] Four years later in Another Side, Another Story, Ally the Databot would be rebuilt in a body resembling Garnet.
    • In OG Season 168, [VideoGame/Persona5 Morgana] is revealed to be [Franchise/Pokemon Pikachu]'s descendant. Already funny to begin with due to the fact that they're on the same team and are voiced by [Creator/IkueOtani the same seiryuu], it became doubly so after Joker was annouced as a DLC fighter for VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate almost a year later. Meanwhile, within the game itself, Morgana's spirit battle is against a tiny Pikachu Libre.
    • In OG Season 214, [VideoGame/Undertale Flowey] started a Website/Kickstarter campaign, which becomes funnier if you remember that his game was also backed by the crowdfunding site.
    • In OG Seasaon 219, [WesternAnimation/Felidae Felicity], a cat, [AnimalJingoism killed] the WesternAnimation/PAWPatrol for winning a contest while [SecondPlaceIsForLosers she only got second]. Three years later, Wild Cat joined the PAW Patrol in "Moto Pups: Pups vs. the Ruff-Ruff Pack", with no animosity whatsoever.
    • In Reboot Season 2, [VideoGame/OnimushaDawnOfDreams the God of Light] [WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse truthed White Diamond so hard she died.] Four months later, Steven did the exact same thing to her in the Season 5 finale "Change Your Mind", although she didn't get shattered.
    • In the 2nd Reboot Troper Games (Season 100), Tropers/PinkCelebi called a car a "Pow-Pow Car" after Power Stroke. While the latter is named after the special Ponyscape tool to draw smoother lines, her name (unknowingly to [Tropers/TroperNo9001 her creator] at the time) also takes after a diesel engine for trucks.
  • HoYay:
    • OG Season 174 had [Music/LinkinPark Chester Bennington] and his bandmate [Music/FortMinor Mike Shinoda] using a port-a-potty together. They must have been [DoubleEntendre having fun] until [WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons Devil Ned] threw them out with their pants still down. Justified|Trope, however, since [TheDividual they were nominated as one tribute].
    • In Reboot Season 248, [VideoGame/FireEmblemPathOfRadiance Ike and Soren], [TheDividual as one tribute], [ShowerOfLove showered together.]
  • MisBlamed: In OG Season 186, [Webcomic/Homestuck Kanaya Maryam] drew ire from the players by shooting Webcomic/Ichabod|TheOptimisticCanine, an "innocent" dog, and laughing about it for the rest of the day. However, it was discovered several seasons later (in OG Season 210) upon rereading the summary of that Season that Kanaya actually had a legitimate reason to kill Ichabod. Prior to his death, Ichabod had poisoned Kanaya's fellow troll, [Webcomic/Homestuck Terezi], and teamed up with [Manga/MyHeroAcademia Eijirou Kirishima] to kill two other tributes. With this in mind, Ichabod wasn't so innocent after all!
    • That being said, however, the players had their own reason to give their ire, since while Ichabod wasn't completely innocent, Kanaya went over the top by laughing about it for the rest of the day. That was why most participants thought Kanaya's death the same night (due to meth cooking gone wrong) was a karmic|Death retribution.
      • Additionally, Ichabod himself had a good reason to kill Terezi in the first place: she [BestialityIsDepraved forced him to marry] [Videogame/UnrealTournament Malcolm].

%%* NoYay: As cracky as pairings go, there are some that are way too disturbing, a few notable examples being [VideoGame/EarthBound Giygas][labelnote:*]an EldritchAbomination[/labelnote]/[Literature/TheMagicSchoolBus Mikey][labelnote:*]a kid in a wheelchair[/labelnote] in Season 32, [Franchise/Castlevania Legion]/[Machinima/RedVsBlue The Meta] in Season 40, [Franchise/Digimon Angewomon]/The Burger King[note]who was somehow [MrSeahorse impregnated] by the former, who was likewise [HomosexualReproduction impregnated] by [WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender Azula] the day before[/note] in Season 93, [VisualNovel/HigurashiWhenTheyCry Satoko Houjou][labelnote:*]a prepubescent young girl[/labelnote]/[WesternAnimation/RickAndMorty Rick Sanchez][labelnote:*][PedoHunt an alcoholic grandfather][/labelnote] in Season 94, [WebVideo/StuartAshen the World's Sharpest Knife(TM)]/[VideoGame/FinalFantasyVI Kefka Palazzo] in Season 96, Franchise/Godzilla[=/=][Franchise/Naruto Deidara] in Season 146, [Film/Goldfinger Oddjob]/[WesternAnimation/Madagascar Private][note]A freaking penguin[/note] in Season 172, Music/JustinBieber/[WesternAnimation/FindingNemo Marlin and Nemo][labelnote:*]A pair of clownfish, with one of them being the equivalent of a human child[/labelnote] in Season 174, Music/BTS[note]a 7-member boy band of 20-somethings[/note]/[WesternAnimation/InsideOut Riley Andersen][note]A 12-year-old preteen girl[/note] in Season 195, [WesternAnimation/FindingNemo Nemo]/[Literature/TheLordOfTheRings Bilbo] [Literature/TheHobbit Baggins][note]both of them [MrSeahorse somehow] [HomosexualReproduction had a child together], and the former is a [PaedoHunt child] himself[/note] in Season 211, ComicBook/TheJoker/[VideoGame/Cuphead Beppi the Clown] in Season 215 and [VisualNovel/Danganronpa2GoodbyeDespair Gundam Tanaka]/[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Star Swirl the Bearded] in Season 230. %%** In fact, Season 215 has a surprising number of this. There's a reason [Tropers/DaveTheAssassin dave_the_assassin] nicknamed it as "the NoYay Season".

  • OlderThanTheyThink: Oftentimes, players nominate tributes without realizing that they were nominated many seasons before, whether or not they were originally from the OG. Not that this is a problem, since all tributes are free-for-all.
  • OvershadowedByControversy: OG Season 230 saw Tropers/StarAndroidJaguar getting his first champion, [Franchise/Pokemon Natu]. However, all participants have unanimously agreed that it was the most infamous Season to date. This Season saw an extremely Squicky event happen between [VisualNovel/Danganronpa2GoodbyeDespair Gundham Tanaka] and [WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Star Swirl the Bearded]. Events such as this have happened many times before, but this one ended up being the straw that broke the camel's back. The Reboot came to be as a direct result from this "[Scandalgate Gunstargate]" fiasco, and further steps were taken to be sure that no such events occur in future Seasons, with continuous checks over the new rules remaining active.
  • RootingForTheEmpire: In OG Season 183, the players found themselves [TheWoobie feeling bad] for [Manga/MyHeroAcademia Tomura Shigaraki], of all people. It isn't every day that you have the players legitimately feeling sorry for a tribute as nasty as Tomura is in canon. Just about everyone was cheering for him and hoping that he would win, and the players rejoiced when he actually ended up [ThrowTheDogABone winning]. This kind of thing was pretty much inevitable, seeing as all of the tributes for that season were villains[note]except for [WesternAnimation/SouthPark Eric Cartman][/note].
  • TheScrappy:
    • Dyudyuka, due to her murder of [WesternAnimation/HowToTrainYourDragon Tooth][TheWoobie less] in OG Season 12, has earned few fans.
    • In OG Season 169, [VideoGame/Undertale Papyrus] gets this treatment after [SiblingMurder killing his brother Sans] in the bloodbath and showing no remorse for it.
    • [Franchise/Ben10 Azmuth's] actions in OG Season 179 did little to earn him fans. He [TookALevelInJerkass took a MAJOR level in jerkass] after he teamed up with three other tributes to kill the peep bunny. His descent into jerkassery started on Night Three when he pushed [VisualNovel/Danganronpa2GoodbyeDespair Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu] into a mud puddle. After that, he killed two player favorite tributes, [Franchise/Pokemon Flabébé] and [WesternAnimation/LiloAndStitch Stitch]. The latter death was made even worse by the fact that Stitch was one of the tributes who teamed up with him against the peep bunny. Not only that, but he also [InLoveWithYourCarnage pleasured himself] to ComicBook/AntMan crushing [Franchise/WinnieThePooh Piglet's] skull in his hands. Needless to say, [AndThereWasMuchRejoicing the players rejoiced] when [Franchise/Pokemon Gourgeist] shoved him into a meat grinder during the Feast.
    • [VideoGame/ShadowOfDestiny Eike Kusch]'s... [PaedoHunt questionable behavior] near children and [WouldHurtAChild murder of] [WesternAnimation/SouthPark Butters Stotch] and [Literature/TheMagicSchoolBus Carlos], among several others, in Season OG 187 made him get this treatment. Unsurprisingly, no one mourned when [VideoGame/PlantsVsZombies Wall-Nut] ultimately blew him to kingdom come at the Feast.
  • ScrappyMechanic:
    • Most suicides, particularly the SuicidePact and the failed double suicide, to the point that they have been removed from Season 19 and on, since they tend to kill off too many tributes early. It doesn't help that both of them are programmed to happen even during the bloodbath in the vanilla version of the sim. The standard singular suicide has since been re-implemented, but not within the bloodbath, although variants such as the tribute killing themself in stupidity have been suggested without a problem.
      • The suicide pact event was eventually restored in the Reboot, first appearing in Reboot Season 84. At this time, there have been a plethora of events since the last time it happened, so it [RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap doesn't occur as frequently as before.] Additionally, only three tributes do the deed, with the fourth one questioning it.
    • Arena events can shake up seasons, but when they happen on the first day, they tend to wipe out massive numbers of tributes before they can do anything interesting, oftentimes ending seasons too quickly or dragging them out too long with deathless days. Because of the incident in OG Season 87, where the Phantom [VideoGame/Civilization Ghandi] Arena Event brought up Day 1's death count to 39, Arena Events have been banned from occurring on the first two days.
    • Also, the inability to set the likelihood of arena events. In the simulator, you can set the likelihood of fatal events to low, moderate, or high, but this cannot be done for arena events. They can only be enabled or disabled. Because of this, a good save can be hard to come by when early arena events keep popping up.
    • In general, any event that involves [TakingYouWithMe one tribute dying while killing another], because the killer's own death is registered as an extra kill. Due to the way the kill system works, it's impossible to code such events without this problem. Because of this, some of the mass murderers were [DisqualificationInducedVictory disqualified from competing in Murderers' Death Battles.]
      • In addition, if the event is worded such that any tribute other than the first one dies first, the placements would be messed up due to the way the death order works.[note]When multiple tributes die in the same event, the order of deaths is numerical, so P1 always dies first, followed by P2, etc.[/note]
      • RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Ever since the updated simulator was implemented in Reboot Season 258, the Killed By feature rectifies the excess kills because the kills can be assigned independently of each other.
    • The "long, drawn-out battle" event, where one tribute kills another before being killed by a third tribute, was first added in OG Season 25, but later seasons showed how problematic that was. Not only did it register excess kills for both killers, resulting in mass murderers being unfairly qualified for Murderers' Death Battles, but it also resulted in incorrect placements due to the way deaths are ordered.[note]The event had the second tribute dying first.[/note] This event reared its ugly head in OG Seasons 36 and 89, where [VideoGame/BlazBlue Es] and [VideoGame/Civilization George Washington] should've switched places for 3rd in the former, and [VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog Big the Cat] and [VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening Kellam] likewise should've switched places for 3rd in the latter. Even after the event was reworded in OG Season 146, it still had the "excess kills" problem, and it was ultimately retired in OG Season 182.
      • RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Said event was reworded in OG Season 186, where this time, one tribute ambushes two others after they both collapse from their long, drawn-out battle, with no indication that one of the fighters killed the other. Likewise, the steel chair event was made clear that one tribute kills another with the chair to protect a third tribute. Originally, it was worded in such a way that this situation wasn't implied, and it was also coded so that the one being saved somehow died for no reason.[note]This was because when Tropers/Alexius08 added the event before OG Season 128 (which was suggested by Tropers/SunGuyThe3rd), he was confused with the ambiguous wording of the event and assumed that the chair wielder killed both tributes. The players just went along with that interpretation until one of the participants called out on it when one of their tributes was killed in the event. As of OG Season 217, there's now a variant of the steel chair event that goes by Alex's interpretation, and this time, it's made clear that the chair wielder killed both tributes with it.[/note]
    • The "therapist" event, where two tributes [WebAnimation/Eddsworld think that two other tributes are therapists, but end up saying that] [TheProblemWithPenIsland there should be a space between the E and R.] It was removed for [RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil obvious reasons].

%%* TheWoobie: Funny as the HGS can be most of the time, there are some tributes that many of the participants feel really need a hug based on their hardships in the seasons they were involved in. Notable OG examples include [WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Fluttershy][note]In OG Season 11, at least. [CuteAndPsycho Not as much] in OG Season 225[/note], [WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra Korra], [WesternAnimation/HowToTrainYourDragon Toothless], [VisualNovel/Danganronpa2GoodbyeDespair Kazuichi Souda], [Manga/MyHeroAcademia Tomura Shigaraki], [Webcomic/Homestuck Erisolsprite], and [VideoGame/Spore Julio]. And to lesser extent, [Franchise/KingdomHearts Kairi].
